One little boy's journey with EoE is a powerful reminder of why HCRF is raising $30,000 for research that could change lives. Felix has spent most of his life struggling with eating, unexplained pain, and more hospital visits than any child should face. For a long time, his family didn't have answers.
Eventually, they received a diagnosis: Eosinophilic Oesophagitis — a condition that causes painful inflammation when his body reacts to certain foods. In the past 18 months alone, Felix has had six medical procedures to help manage his condition. He has dealt with food fear, weight loss, and the emotional toll that constant medical care brings.
But Felix keeps showing up with courage. And thanks to careful treatment, his medical team has narrowed his triggers down to just two foods — a huge step forward for Felix and his family. His story is one of resilience, and his family have chosen to share it so others navigating EoE know they are not alone.
Why This Research Matters
Felix is exactly why HCRF is raising $30,000 for EoE research led by Dr Scott Nightingale at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI). This research could lead to a simple blood test instead of repeated endoscopies, kinder and more targeted treatments, more confidence for children at mealtimes, and less fear for families.
How you can help
Every dollar raised goes directly to this research. If Felix's story has moved you, please share it — awareness is how research finds its funding. And if you're in a position to donate, every contribution brings us closer to the breakthroughs these children deserve.
