Behind the smile: Arti's Story

At 18 months old, Arti's EoE diagnosis has turned everyday moments into a challenge. His family is holding onto hope — and research is the reason why.

At first glance, you see a little boy who looks happy, healthy and full of life. Smiling in photos, just like any other toddler. But behind those images is a very different reality. Arti is just 18 months old. He was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Oesophagitis (EoE) at only 14 months old. Since then, what should be simple, everyday moments, like eating, have become a source of pain and fear. For Arti, mealtimes aren't joyful. They're fearful, unpredictable and overwhelming.

Many children living with EoE struggle to eat solids, experience ongoing pain and vomiting, and must endure repeated medical procedures just to monitor their condition. It's a daily reality that most people never see. Arti's mum Bella has chosen to share their story — and despite the uncertainty of the road ahead, their family is holding onto hope. Hope that one day, Arti's life won't be defined by pain, and that he can truly feel as happy and healthy as he looks in those photos.

Why This Research Matters

tories like Arti's are why HCRF is raising $30,000 for EoE research led by Dr Scott Nightingale at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI). This research could lead to a simple blood test instead of repeated endoscopies, kinder and more targeted treatments, more confidence for children at mealtimes, and less fear for families.

How you can help

Every dollar raised goes directly to this research. If Arti's story has moved you, please share it — awareness is how research finds its funding. And if you're in a position to donate, every contribution brings us closer to the breakthroughs these children deserve.
